The Room 304 “The old castle”

The castle Karlshtein is in 33 kilometres from Prague. The castle Karlshtein is one of the most known Gothic castle of Czechia. Constructed in XIV century by the king Charles IV at a top of a rocky mountain, it was the imperial residence and treasury royal religious.

The major sight of the castle is the church of the Blessed Virgin (1357) with perfect medieval frescos and royal chapel, the walls of which are covered with jewels. Even more perfect is the chapel of St. Rud in the “Great tower”, with 128 wall panels filled by the foreman Theodoric, where til 1420 were stored crowning religious. The most valuable pearl of the castle is chapter of the Holy Cross in the Great tower, enchase with semiprecious stones, where till 1420 the jewellery for crowning were stored.
