The Room 101 “Classics”

The Renaissance — an epoch of intellectual and art flourishing, which began in Italy in 14^th century, having reached a peak in 16^th century and having rendered significant influence on the European culture. The term “Revival” meaning return to values of the antique world had appeared in 15^th century and received a theoretical substantiation in 16^th century in the works of Vizari, devoted to creative work of famous artists, sculptors and architects. At this time there was a representation about harmony reigning in a nature, and about the man as a halo of its creation. The artist Alberti, an architect, artist, scientific, poet and mathematics Leonardo Da Vinchi are the outstanding representatives of this epoch.

Approximately in 1425 Florence became the centre of the Renaissance (the Florentine art), but to the beginning 16^th centuries — High Renaissance — conducting place had been occupied by Venice (Venetian art) and Rome. The cultural centres were the court yards of the dukes Mantui, Urbina and Ferrad. The Medichies, Roman popes and especial Julius II and Lion Х were the main patrons of art.
